thanks to the vision of
the Chicago Park District, with the
promise that the concerts in the
park would be free for everyone.
Now in Millennium Park’s Frank
Gehry-designed Jay Pritzker
Pavilion, the Festival continues as a free summer gathering place for all of
Chicago, where thousands of people from every neighborhood and all walks
of life, are connected through the power of music.
For ten weeks each summer, the orchestra, chorus and audience journey
through time, introducing Brahms and Beethoven to people who also love
their Bulls and the Blackhawks. They explore all kinds of music, from classical
favorites to film scores and Broadway nights, in a series of not-to-be-missed
summer concerts.
The Grant Park Music Festival is an affirmation
that music makes a difference in the lives of every
Chicagoan. From families with toddlers getting
their first taste of classical music, to picnickers on
a first date and couples who have been coming
to the Festival since its earliest days—the Pritzker
Pavilion is like
one giant block
party, where
the neighbors
change each
week.
Just like years ago, when the sounds
of symphonic music lifted the spirits of
Chicagoans, today it soars beyond the city’s
most breathtaking outdoor concert space
to inspire our dreams.
