Lumanary 2014 Issue 1 - page 5

Pancreatic cancer is an extremely aggressive form
of cancer.
When Marilyn was diagnosed in 2004,
she sought out hope. She sought treatment at Loyola
University Medical Center’s Cardinal Bernardin
Cancer Center.
Loyola is contributing to improving survival rates in
the treatment of pancreatic cancer, partly through
our experience with performing a potentially life-
saving form of surgery called the Whipple procedure.
Loyola’s team of multidisciplinary cancer specialists
performs numerous complex procedures like this one
each year to help improve patient outcomes.
Loyola’s doctors treated Marilyn’s diagnosis with
everything they had. And nine years later, she’s being
treated to yet another happy birthday.
Loyola. We also treat the human spirit.®
Why does
Marilyn count
every candle
as a gift?
Because
she counted
on us.
