Message from Board Chair
Dear LUMA Friends & Supporters:
I am honored to serve you, LUMA, and the Loyola
University Chicago family as LUMA’s board chair. I am
humbled by the vast talents of LUMA board members,
including its new members Herta Cuneo, Rev. Patrick
Dorsey, S.J., Marsha Goldstein, Virginia Hogan, Ellen
Landgraf, Peter LoGiudice, Judy McCaskey, Francesca
Parvizyar, and Debra Yates.
The next three years mark an important time for LUMA,
and events are being planned to bring attention to the
museum’s accomplishments. The Edward Gorey Birthday
Bash will be held on February 22, 2014, celebrating the life
of the Chicago-born artist. In 2015, LUMA will celebrate
its tenth anniversary with a gala befitting of a forerunner
Chicago cultural institution. Visit LUMA’s website,
LUC.edu/luma, for updates on these and other exciting
happenings at the museum.
Under the able leadership of Fr. Michael J. Garanzini, S.J.,
Pamela E. Ambrose, and its board, LUMA has thrived
since its inception. In late 2013, LUMA was awarded
accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums,
placing the museum in its rightful spot among the nation’s
top 6% of museums. Continuing that level of success, my
goals are to increase LUMA’s visibility, drive membership,
and build the museum’s endowment.
With the continued gifts of your time, talent, and treasure,
LUMA will surely set the world on fire!
