Welcome to the 80th Anniversary Season
at the Grant Park Music Festival
We’re so proud to present a season that mixes world premieres with Festival
favorites, and showcases our own glorious orchestra and chorus with world
renowned guest artists. This summer, you’ll see the return of two of the Festival’s
former Principal Conductors, along with a weeklong composer-in-residency and
two visiting youth symphonies.
Whether you’ve been coming to the Festival for years, or you’re seeing the Grant
Park Orchestra and Chorus for the first time, we know that you’ll agree that the
music sounds spectacular at the state-of-the-art Jay Pritzker Pavilion.
You won’t want to miss three very special concerts when the Grant Park Orchestra
and Chorus travel to the neighborhoods. Mark your calendars for July 11 when
Mei-Ann Chen conducts the Orchestra at the South Shore Cultural Center, July
17 when Christopher Bell leads the Grant Park Chorus at the South Shore Cultural
Center, and July 20 when the Grant Park Chorus performs at the Columbus Park
Refectory.
These ten weeks of free concerts would not be possible without the generous
support of our long-standing partners—the Chicago Park District and the Chicago
Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. They, along with our many
foundation and corporate donors, and thousands of Festival members and
contributors help us to present a season of extraordinary music and stunning
performances each year.
And our thanks to you for joining us tonight. Enjoy the concert and we hope to see
you all summer long.
Warm regards,
Carlos Kalmar
Artistic Director and Principal Conductor
