Forest Preserves of Cook County 2019 Summer Brochure

fpdcc.com Across Cook County, the Forest Preserves is restoring key habitats to ecological health. Guided by a site prioritization plan created with the University of Illinois, the Forest Preserves is removing invasive species, reestablishing wetlands, reintroducing native species and much more. Not only does this work help animals and plants thrive, it makes for spectacular vistas to explore. Throughout this guide, you can read about the ongoing efforts that are transforming preserves in each of the FPCC’s ve zones and about the results, including newly opened woodlands, a protected migratory bird site, and species that have returned to their home. We hope you visit these sites—and other preserves too—to bring some nature into your life. And if you want to be a part of the transformation, the Forest Preserves has many volunteer opportunities.
